How coaching works

Coaching is a series of one-to-one developmental discussions between the coach and you, the client. Sessions generally last one hour or 90 minutes and are usually arranged weekly. They're typically face-to-face, but we can work with you over the telephone or via email in some circumstances. How many sessions you need depends on what you want to achieve, but coaching is essentially a short-term activity lasting a few months, rather than years. As you would expect, everything you discuss is treated in the strictest confidence.

Coaching can be used to address a very wide range of individual or organisational issues, but it does need to focus on specific areas. Within these areas it can then examine your current performance, give feedback on strengths and weaknesses, develop strategies to improve your future performance and monitor your progress by stages.
